Bacteriostatic water is sterile water containing 0.9% benzyl alcohol as a bacteriostatic preservative. It is used for reconstitution of lyophilized peptides and other research compounds. The benzyl alcohol inhibits bacterial growth, allowing for multiple withdrawals from the same vial over an extended period.
